The Steps of God’s Economy, Ch 1(b)

2 Corinthians 13:14 “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”

Summary: God is triune in order to carry out His economy, to dispense Himself into us.

I.      From the Father

II.      In the Son

1. Christ is the divine embodiment of God.
2. In incarnation, Christ is the mingling of God with man.
3. Through human living, He is able to sympathize with all our weaknesses—Heb. 4:15
4. By His wonderful and effective death, His killing power slays all the old elements in us.
5. In resurrection, He was made the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor 15:45b), and brought man into God.
6. In ascension, He transcended over all enemies, principalities, and powers.
7. In His enthronement, He was made Lord of all (Acts 2:36).

III. As the Spirit

1. The Spirit now includes God (John 4:24) and the Son (2 Cor 3:17). Hence, the Three-in-one is in us (Eph 4:6; 2 Cor. 13:5; Rom 8:11)
2. The Spirit in our spirit is the mark of God’s economy, and the method by which the Godhead is dispensed into us.
