The Key to the Indwelling Spirit – Ch 4

And if the Spirit of the One who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells you.”
A. The fact that the Holy Spirit dwells in our spirit and that these two spirits are being mingled together is the mark of God’s economy.
B. May we not remain wandering in our mind as the children of Israel wandered in wilderness for 40 years, but come forward to the good land of our spirit.
C. As the Holy of Holies was the place where man met God face to face in the Old Testament, today our human spirit is where we must go to contact God.
D. Today the Holy Spirit in us is the compound of all the divine realities.
II. Distractions from the Key
A. Good – it’s of the tree of the knowledge of good & evil
B. Doctrines – one can have the Scriptures without Christ
C. Gifts – spiritual gifts should help Christ to make His home in our hearts – (Eph 3:17)
1. First Corinthians mentions gifts, but only in chapter 12. Paul concluded with a charge to exercise our spirit for building up (14:26)
2. Rebekah was attracted by the gifts, but dropped them when she found her husband. (Gen 24)
