Chapter 20 – Tripartite Man and The Church

Romans 7:15, 18, 20; 8:2, 6, 11; 12:1-2, 11

  1. Tripartite man complicated by three persons
    1. “Satan came into our body as the law of sin.” – Satan
    2. “…the Triune God came into our spirit as the law of life.” – God Himself
    3. “Our self is in our soul.” – Adam
  2. Tripartite man represented by the mind
    1. Romans 7
      1. Our mind is too weak
      2. Our mind is independent
    2. Romans 8
      1. The “mind set on the spirit” is dependent
      2. The result of “the mind set on the spirit” is “life and peace.”
  3. Tripartite man realizes the body life
    1. Our body presented to the church life (Romans 12:1)
    2. Our mind renewed for the church life (Romans 12:2)
    3. Our spirit fervent for the church life (Romans 12:11)
