The Inward & Hidden Parts of Man – Ch 6b

III. The three parts of the spirit – conscience, fellowship, and intuition

A. Conscience – The function in the spirit that perceives right from wrong, condemns or justifies.

Rom. 9:1 “I speak the truth in Christ, I do not lie, my conscience bearing witness with me in the Holy Spirit.

B. Fellowship – The function in the spirit that enables us to touch or contact God, that is, to have communion with Him.

John 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truthfulness.”

C. Intuition – The function in the human spirit that gives us a direct sense of God and a direct knowledge from God, a sense of life that is not “reasonable.”

1 Cor. 2:11 “For who among men knows the things of man, except the spirit of man which is in him…the things of God also no one has known except the Spirit of God.”

D. These verses give us the Scriptural ground to confirm the three parts, or functions in our human spirit – conscience, fellowship, and intuition; from our experience we see the spirit is a complete unit of these three parts.

IV. The four parts of the heart – mind, will, emotion, conscience

A. The mind – The main part in the soul that thinks and reasons.

Matthew 9:4 “Why…are you thinking evil things in your hearts?”

B. The will – The part in the soul that makes decisions: chooses, refuses, and seeks.

Acts 11:23 “Who…rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain with the Lord with purpose of heart.”

C. The emotion – the part in the soul that expresses: love, joy, sorrow.

John 16:22 “…And your heart will rejoice

D. The conscience – the leading part of the spirit that perceives right from wrong, condemns and justifies.

Heb. 10:22 “…having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience.”
